Host your soak event at your workplace or location of your choice. Office events make it easy for employees to participate—and let’s be honest, there’s nothing more fun than watching your boss get soaked for a great cause.
What Is the CEO Challenge?
Think Ice Bucket Challenge meets corporate team building.
Inspired by the viral 2014 Ice Bucket Challenge, the CEO Challenge is ALS Rhode Island’s signature corporate engagement event. Community leaders and local businesses come together to raise critical funds and awareness for ALS while boosting employee morale through friendly competition and fun.
This challenge is open to all businesses, small and large, in any industry—and you don’t have to be a CEO to get soaked. Whether you’re rallying your entire office, challenging your leadership team, or participating as an individual, your involvement makes a real impact for people living with ALS in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
How It Works:
- Choose a date between June and August
- Host your event at your workplace or another location
- Set a fundraising goal and engage your team
- Get creative—pair your soak with a staff outing, ice cream social, or leadership event
- Top fundraisers may be featured on ALS Rhode Island’s social media and selected to get soaked live on NBC Channel 10
Can’t organize a company event? No problem. Individuals can participate just like the original Ice Bucket Challenge—film your soak, donate, post to social media, and challenge a friend using #ALSRhodeIsland #CEOChallenge.
How ALS United Rhode Island Supports You:
We’re with you every step of the way and provide:
- Fundraising page setup and technical support
- Event planning guidance and creative ideas
- Event‑day support (buckets, tents, signage, educational materials)
- Patient speakers to connect your team to our mission
- Media promotion and social media highlights
We recommend a fundraising goal of $2,500, but participation can be customized to fit your comfort level and workplace.

Do I have to be a CEO to participate?
Not at all—anyone can get soaked!
Is there a fundraising minimum?
No minimum required. Every dollar makes a difference.
Can small teams participate?
Yes! Whether you’re a team of 5 or 500, your support matters.
